Brett Goldstein on Writing Towards a Potential Ending

Although not much has been said about Ted Lasso season 3 in terms of plot, there’s one thing we’ve heard over and over – chances are it’s the last season. The creators had a plan for three seasons from the start, and now the main question is whether the runaway success of this one on Apple TV+ will lead them to do more.

If this Is happen, there doesn’t seem to be any major conversations going on about it right now. In a new interview with The Sunday TimesBrett Goldstein (who writes about the series, in addition to playing the fantastic Roy Kent), notes that they “write it [as though it could be the end]. It was planned for three. Spoiler alert – everyone dies. Obviously, that last one is a joke, and it’s probably a way to add some humor to an answer he’s probably given hundreds of times over the past year.

We saw a lot of wonderful moments from Roy in the first two seasons as he became more of a leader and a friend to those around him. For Brett, it was a wonderful thing to write and perform:

“The enjoyable part of the show is about people trying to be better. And that’s unusual. Our public discourse [on social media] is awful. It is now normal for people to be horrible towards each other. Our show shouldn’t be as refreshing as it is – it says more about the world it was introduced to. I have a lot more stories about lovely people than people who are a nightmare.

We think everything Ted Lasso The team keeps this in mind throughout Season 3, whether it’s the final season or not. It’s a heartwarming sight for many people, including ourselves. We want there to always be that dose of inspiration and joy.

Hope season 3 of Ted Lasso premieres later this year. For more speculation on a start date, visit the link here.
