When preparing for the upcoming Central Board for Secondary Education (CBSE) Semester II Chemistry Examination, students should acquire the basic knowledge of the middle and high school curriculum. It is important for candidates to be thorough with the formula of compounds, types of bonds, valence, and the concept of moles, among other topics.
We can divide the subject mainly into three sections – physical, inorganic and organic and for each of these students have to take detailed notes after understanding the basic concepts. Here are some tips for all students preparing for the upcoming exam:

— Learn thoroughly the laws given in the different units.
— Practice solving all types of numerical problems.
— Make a flowchart for review at the end of each unit. For example, main points in electrochemistry are electrode potential, Nernst’s equation and numerical constant, Gibb energy and equilibrium constant, molar conductance and conductivity, Kohlrausch’s law and its variation.
— The variation in electronic configuration of d- and f-block elements with respect to their common oxidation must be clearly understood in order to relate other properties such as ionization potential, electrode potential, oxidative and reducing nature .
— Add a comparison of various properties with reason to your notes.
— Hybridization, geometry, magnetic behavior and color of various complex compounds should be learned according to VBT and CFT.
— This part is completely theoretical, so read it carefully at least two to three times.

— Write down each reaction, highlighting the reactions named.
— Understand the mechanism of important reactions.
— Apply your knowledge to the conversion reactions given in the NCERT manual.
— Add reasoning points to your notes, especially for physical properties.
– Maintain perfect correlation between units such as reaction rate of kinetics used in organic reactions, concept of electrode potential of electrochemistry and type of crystal lattices i.e. HCP, BCC and CCP which are very useful in d and f block elements.
Also, create an abbreviated version of these notes for quick review. While solving the quiz, write clear and crisp answers. Remember to write a complete reaction with numerical values and units.
