‘Crazy Rich Asians’ Spinoff Is In The Works, ‘Barry’ Scribe Jason Kim Writes – Deadline



EXCLUSIVE: Emmy nominated barry Producer and scribe Jason Kim is set to write a spin-off of boobies rich asian which will center on Astrid Young Teo’s character Gemma Chan and her romance with Charlie Wu, played by Harry Shum Jr. in the original film.

In the film directed by Jon M. Chu, Astrid learns that her husband Michael (Pierre Png) has seen a mistress. She reconnects with Charlie after they meet at Nick and Rachel’s engagement party.

On the television side, he is developing a project with Scooter Braun and Tablo at Amazon and a half-hour series with Blue Marble Pictures and A24.

Plus, Kim’s original musical KPOP will open on Broadway this fall, making history as the first Broadway musical about Korean culture and the popularity of the K-pop musical genre.

Kim was a consulting producer on the HBO series Divorce and the Netflix series Love. It received a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Comedy Series for barry in 2019. Kim also won a Writers Guild Award for Best Comedy Series for barry in 2020.
