FF7 remake news could be announced on Square Enix’s new website in honor of Final Fantasy’s 35th anniversary, where it could announce new details about Final Fantasy games in the future. A message, in the foreground, reminds us that the first Final Fantasy title was released on December 18, 1987, and that the website “will bring you many exciting new ways to enjoy the worlds of Final Fantasy.” Details about Final Fantasy 16 could also be revealed, although they are not explicitly shown on the website.

What’s on the Final Fantasy 35th Anniversary site?

The most prominent piece on the website is a special post by Yoshinori Kitase, producer of Final Fantasy 7 Remake, where he notes how interesting it is that this year is the anniversary of three different Final Fantasy titles. Final Fantasy 5 will celebrate its 30th anniversary, Final Fantasy 7 its 25th anniversary and Final Fantasy XI its 20th anniversary.

“Every year a number of titles celebrate their anniversaries,” Kitase writes, “but if you think about it, so many of the same series lining up in this way is quite unusual. It’s only possible because of the passionate support long time for every game in the FF series from fans like you… The FF 35 site will support new releases, sharing information about upcoming titles and products.

As of this writing, the website has two new titles on offer: Chocobo GP which releases tomorrow March 10, and Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin, the demo of which has actually appeared on the PlayStation Network. That’s ahead of today’s State of Play broadcast, which airs at 2:00 PM PST / 5:00 PM EST / 10:00 PM GMT, which focuses on upcoming PS4 and PS5 titles from Japanese developers. If there is any news about FF7 Remake Part 2 or FF16 in the broadcast, expect the anniversary website to be updated with the latest.

In other news, the Forspoken PS5 console exclusive has been delayed again and a God of War TV series is reportedly in development.
