Buyers have discovered a little-known iPhone feature that allows them to share their shopping list in real time with family, friends or roommates.

With the Notes app, Australians can invite anyone to view or edit their notes or iCloud folders as long as the device is connected to the Internet.

So when someone checks an item on a to-do list, edits a shopping list, adds an attachment, or edits a project, everyone who shares the note or folder can see the most updated version.

Dozens of phone users have said the feature is especially handy for families who can add items to their shared grocery list anytime, anywhere, so anyone shopping can pick up the products.

“So everyone except me is probably doing it already, but maybe some will benefit. I have a note that is shared with my wife called “Grocery Store,” a man wrote on Facebook.

“It shows up in both of our Notes apps and is updated in real time when one of us changes it. It’s very useful. Each of us can recognize a need and whoever goes to the store (me) will know it.

The man explained how Siri plays a role in the feature as well, saying the voice-activated personal assistant can add items to existing notes or create new notes.

“If I say ‘Hey Siri, add some garlic to note the races’ it will magically appear on his phone and mine,” he said.
