IRCTC updates the online ticket booking process for its website; check the revised steps here

New Delhi | Jagran Press Office: The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has revised its online ticketing process. All travelers who book their tickets using the irctc website or app should note that from now on all customers will be asked to provide their verified numbers and email ids before booking tickets. To book a ticket, verification is mandatory and from now on ticket reservations will be allowed without it.
According to the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation, these new rules will apply to those who have not made an online reservation since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Here is how you can verify mobile numbers and email ids to book tickets through IRCTC:

Step 1 Visit the IRCTC website or app, then go to the verification window.

Step 2 Enter your registered mobile number and email address.

Step 3 On the right you will see a verification option and on the left an edit button. If you want to edit both, or one or the other, tap on the edit option. If not, proceed to verification.

Step 4 On your registered number, you will receive a one-time password (OTP). Enter the OTP for verification.

Step 5The process to complete the email id verification is similar. Only you will receive the opt or code on your mail.

Step-by-step procedure to make an online reservation after verification, here:

(1.) Access the IRCTC portal or app and login using your credentials.

(2.) Enter the source station, destination, travel date and a class of coach.

(3.) From a list of trains that appears, select the one that suits you best and click “Book Now”.

(4.) Enter details such as passenger name, age, gender, berth preference, food/no food choice, etc.

(5.) Click “Make payment”, choose the payment method and complete the transaction.

(6.) You will receive a booking confirmation and trip details on the registered mobile number and email address.
