SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WEHT) – The Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs (IDVA) on Thursday relaunched “Operation Rising Spirit,” a service to help veterans in times of need.
“Operation Rising Spirit is an effort to boost the morale of our veterans during the pandemic as it has been difficult to be isolated, away from families and to deal with the uncertainty of COVID-19,” said said Acting Director Terry Prince. “Our veterans courageously served our nation and once again showed bravery when offered the vaccine, as nearly 99% of our residents are fully immunized. The simple gesture of a note of appreciation can boost morale and change a day.
The effort would be part of a month of activities carried out by the IVDA ahead of Veterans Day on November 11. Another of their efforts includes Veterans Serving Veterans, a campaign featuring veteran employees of IDVA.
