ATTACK AGAINST THE APPLICATIONS OF THE LAW, 2022-03280188, 1000 block of S. Hayes Street. At approximately 6:02 p.m. on March 28, police were dispatched to report a shoplifting. Upon arrival, officers met with the loss prevention employees who had detained the suspect. The investigation determined that the suspect, who had previously been banned from the property, entered the business and allegedly began concealing goods in a bag before being confronted by an employee. During the investigation, the suspect provided false identifying information, but officers were later able to identify the suspect. The suspect was transported to the reservation and once inside began to act haphazardly, made threatening statements and spat at an officer. Ronald Thomas, 24, of Brandywine, Maryland, was arrested and charged with assault on law enforcement, shoplifting, trespassing and identity theft. He also received outstanding warrants from Fairfax County and the Arlington County Sheriff’s Office. He was held without bail.

ATTEMPTED MALICIOUS INJURY2022-03270226, 300 block of 23rd S. St. At approximately 11:26 p.m. on March 27, police were dispatched to report that a hit and run had just occurred. Upon arrival, the male and female suspects were determined to have left a facility without paying their bill. A security guard contacted the suspects outside the facility and asked them to come back and pay. The two suspects refused and entered their vehicle parked nearby. As the security guard was documenting the license plate, the male suspect allegedly backed up, nearly hitting the security guard and hitting a parked vehicle before fleeing. No injuries or significant material damage were reported. The male suspect is described as a black man in his early 40s, with a mustache and goatee, approximately 5’10” to 5’11”, 200 pounds, wearing a black puffer jacket, blue jeans and a baseball cap . The suspect is described as a black female with black hair, approximately 5’6″, 150 pounds, wearing a black jacket and blue jeans. The investigation is ongoing.
