THE NOTRE-DAME SERIES – MICHIGAN

  • The Irish and Wolverines will meet for the fifth time overall on Friday at Martin Stadium.
  • This is the second meeting of the season for these two teams. They met in February when the Irish lost 11-7.
  • Kasey Choma, Madison Ahern and Madison Mote each scored two goals. Hannah Dorney scored a goal.
  • Bridget Deehan made seven saves in goal.

2022 NCAA TOURNAMENT

  • The 2022 NCAA Tournament has Notre Dame traveling to Evanston, Illinois for the first and second rounds.
  • The winner of the Notre Dame/Michigan contest will face the winner of Northwestern/Central Michigan in the second round on Sunday, May 15.
  • Notre Dame meets Michigan in the first round and before that game Northwest and Central Michigan.
  • The 2022 NCAA D1 Women’s Lacrosse Championship features 29 teams, with the top three seeds earning a first-round bye.
  • The top six schools in the ACC nation compete in the NCAA Tournament, including two of the top three seeds at No. 1 North Carolina and No. 3 Boston College.
  • The winner of the Evanston Regional will meet the winner of Princeton Regional on May 19. The Final Four is scheduled for May 27-29 and will be hosted by Johns Hopkins University at Homewood Field in Baltimore, Maryland.

IRISH vs. OTHER EVANSTON REGIONAL PARTICIPANTS

  • This will be the second meeting against Northwest or Central Michigan.
  • Against Central Michigan, the Irish won 24-5. Madison Ahern scored a career-high six goals in the contest.
  • Maddie Howe notched her 200th career point in the season opener.
  • Jane McAvoy, Ava Kristynik and Mary Kelly Doherty each scored their first collegiate career goals with the Irish.
  • Notre Dame holds a 2-0 overall advantage over Central Michigan.
  • Against Northwestern, Kasey Choma led the team with four goals, and Maddie Howe, Jackie Wolak and Kelly Denes all scored three each.
  • Bridget Deehan made 10 saves during the contest.
  • Northwestern holds the lead in the overall series with Notre Dame 22-5.
  • The Irish and Chippewas have never met in the NCAA Tournament and have met Northwestern seven times before in the NCAA Tournament.
