A new maternity app has been launched which gives pregnant women in the Isle of Wight online access to their maternity records.
When making their first appointment, all pregnant women will be invited to download the Badger Notes application on their smartphone, tablet or PC to access their personalized care plan, and information on all aspects of their care. pregnancy and receive appointment reminders.
There is also an option to keep a journal, upload photos, and communicate with their midwife about non-urgent matters throughout their pregnancy.
Midwives at St Mary’s Hospital are excited about the BadgerNet system and how it will improve the quality of care for mothers; by facilitating women’s access to the information they need and enabling them to become more involved in all aspects of their health care.
Yvonne Harris, midwife of the digital project, said:
“This is an ongoing project with local maternity services in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight to provide better care for women and their families.
“We are really excited to launch Badger Notes. It will allow pregnant women to be more involved in their care, providing them with timely information and support throughout their maternity journey and facilitating contact with their midwife. It will also allow our maternity team to focus on providing effective and timely care.
“For women who already have the traditional ‘pink’ pregnancy notes, they will continue to use them until they are admitted to the hospital. They will then be set up with digital notes when sent home. “
