D3 Publisher has updated the website to samurai girl, adding new details about the game’s characters and combat mechanics. Along with revealing each character’s backstory and voice, the website also dives into the game’s Devoted Heart romance system.
Billed as a “Girls Sword-fighting Action” game, samurai girl features a cast of four main characters. The main playable character, Tsumugi Tamaori, is a 21st century schoolgirl. However, she is suddenly transported to the Sengoku period during history class. Luckily, she learned swordsmanship at her grandfather’s dojo. The Japanese description of her character notes that she is “popular with girls, but apparently is unaware of it”. Her voice is Yuki Yomichi, who voiced Koguma in Super Cub.
Other characters include the ninjas Iyo, Hagane, and Komimi. Miku Itou, who voices Miku Nakano in quintuplets par excellence, voice Iyo. Sumire Uesaka, who voices Hayase Nagatoro in Don’t play with me, Miss Nagatoro, voice Hagane. Miyu Tomita, who plays Miko Iino in Kaguya-Sama: Love is WarKomimi voice
samurai girlCombat involves a combination of swordsmanship and ninjutsu. While slicing monsters, Tsumugi is able to summon his ninja allies and use their abilities. Additionally, Tsumugi can also initiate the “forbidden” Devoted Heart technique. He is activated by physical contact, with kissing his ninja allies being the strongest way to enhance his power. However, there is a caveat: players should start with the simplest forms of affection before moving on to full-fledged kissing sessions.
samurai girl is in development for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC. The game will be released in Winter 2022. Owners of the PS4 version will be able to upgrade to the PS5 version for free.
