REPORTS

CARJACKING ATTEMPT2022-08310199, 12e S. Street and S. Fern Street. At approximately 5:56 p.m. on August 31, police were dispatched to report a hit-and-run that had just occurred. Upon arrival, officers were flagged down by the victim who said he left his unlocked vehicle idling in the 700 block of 12e Rue S. and entered a business. As he exited, he saw the suspect get into the driver’s seat of his vehicle and he ran and got into the passenger seat. The victim told the suspect to get out of the vehicle, at which point she drove off at high speed. A verbal argument ensued inside the vehicle, during which the suspect allegedly brandished a gun and threatened the victim. The suspect and victim then physically fought as the suspect continued driving and collided with an unoccupied parked vehicle. The suspect then exited the vehicle and fled on foot. A surveillance was released with the suspect’s description and officers set up a perimeter and searched the area. The suspect was located and taken into custody without incident. During a search of the suspect’s person incidental to the arrest, a firearm and suspected narcotics were recovered. The victim was slightly injured and refused to be treated on the spot. Mkyah Hatfield, 18, of Alexandria, Va., was arrested and charged with carjacking, kidnapping, use of a firearm in the commission of a crime, possession of appendix I/II and possession of a firearm in possession of drugs. She was held without bail.

FLIGHT, 2022-08310128, 2700 block of Clarendon Blvd. At around 1:00 p.m. on August 31, the police were dispatched to report that a robbery had just occurred. Upon arrival, it was determined that Suspect One entered the business and sought the assistance of an employee. When the employee returned with the merchandise, suspect one grabbed the items from his hands and pushed him in front of the employee before leaving the business with the stolen merchandise. Upon leaving the business, suspect two, who was waiting outside the business, joined suspect one and the two fled the scene in a waiting vehicle. No injuries were reported. Suspect one is described as a black male in his early 20s, approximately 5’2″ tall and weighing between 100 and 120 pounds, wearing a black, blue and white t-shirt and shorts. Suspect 2 is described as a black male in his early to mid-twenties, weighing approximately 170-180 pounds, wearing a white button-down shirt and khaki pants. The suspect vehicle is described as an older model Toyota RAV4. The investigation is ongoing.

BURGLAR (Late), 2022-08300244, 4900 block of Old Dominion Drive. At approximately 9:23 p.m. on August 31, police were dispatched to a late report of a break and enter. Upon arrival, it was determined at approximately 2:00 p.m., the two unknown suspects entered the victim’s residence. The victim returned to the residence around 4:00 p.m. and noticed a drink that she had not left before. No items were reported damaged or stolen and there were no signs of tampering. Suspect One is described as an Indian woman, aged 30 to 40, with black eyes and long hair. Suspect 2 is described as an Indian woman in her mid-30s with long hair, wearing a yellow and white sweater and a backpack. The investigation is ongoing.
