HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Every once in a while, opening and closing apps and tapping the screen helps you discover something new that your iPhone can do.
Tuesday night, I was doing just that. Play with Apple’s Notes app and add a photo to my notes that I captured on a friend’s Facebook post.
And I discovered something new that I didn’t know my iPhone could do.
For people who take notes or want to record something they see on a screen or panel or map without actually recording a photo.
The Notes app will transpose the words on any photo you take. It’s like magic.
So a friend posted a photo of a sign or book cover with key points from Dale Carnegie’s legendary book “How to Win Friends and Influence People.” It was a list of the most important tips from the book. I myself took a picture of their post on Facebook.
As I used my fingers to zoom in on the image, I noticed that my touch made some of the text blue. Just as you see when you copy and paste text from a written article.
Indeed, I was able to select all the words on the screen and copy them. Pressing the screen again to exit the photo, I typed a blank space on the note I just created and saw the “paste” option.
OMG. The text of the photo I just copied has been transcribed into real text! Game changer.
I then opened LinkedIn to create a new post. I tapped the screen and pasted Carnegie’s 20 suggestions. I imagine my followers on LinkedIn think I must have typed all of these words in my post. What’s even more amazing is that the photo text is searchable in the Notes app.
I searched for “appreciation” and the Notes app went through all of my notes and found the list I had just created.
While this is just super cool, and I imagine useful in some situations for most of us, it can really be a game-changer for students or anyone who regularly needs to take notes from the slides in the overhead projector of a teacher.
Or if you are attending a conference and take a photo of a speaker’s slide that you want to remember, just highlight and copy the text later and add all the text to the note where you can search for it when you are. you need.
You will only find the option in the Notes app. It doesn’t work when you just take a photo with the camera app.
It’s one of those things I’ve never read anywhere else, I just found it by chance and boredom. And now you know. Hope you find it as useful as I do.
