Futurism readers –
As always, we have some news on the future to share with you. This time it is our site. Thanks to your support, we have been able to keep Futurism running smoothly in two ways.
The first big change is one of two reasons we can keep going, bigger and better than ever, nothing less: in July 2021, Futurism was acquired from its previous owners by Recurrent Ventures, a revolutionary media company of a new kind.
What does it mean ? Well, for us that means we’re now working alongside some pretty awesome new colleagues (among them are a few titles you might recognize: Popular Science, The Drive, and the Mad Geniuses of MEL Magazine, et al).
And for you? Well, this is the second big change: We are removing the subscription program and making the site free to all of you once again.
As you may have heard by now, 2020 through the first half of 2021 has been a pretty dire year for the media industry. We were able to weather this storm in large part because of the dedication of you, our readers, and those who paid for Futurism subscriptions, helping to keep this site alive. Well, we have lived, and we have decided to remove the entire paywall. There are no more limits on the content of Futurism, for anyone, now: The entire site, and its archives, are again completely free.
Better yet: we are growing. And you’ll see more of us, in bigger and bolder colors, as Futurism expands our repertoire: more reports, more interviews and more news on the emerging and revolutionary technological and scientific advancements that are changing the world. for generations to come.
We really couldn’t have done this without you. By reading our stories, joining our Facebook community, subscribing to our newsletter and, most recently, subscribing to our site. Every ad unit you’ve let load, every time you’ve bought something you’ve seen on our site, every subscription you’ve purchased: every little of those things has helped us get to where we are. are now.
The purpose of the paywall was not to make us rich (which it didn’t) or make our stories less accessible (which it did), but to maintain and secure our ability to write them. . Now that we’re in a safe place, we’re absolutely going to bring you and the rest of the world the best news feed you’ve come to expect from us over the years. We couldn’t have done it without you, and we wanted to leave a note, thanking you for helping to keep the future of Futurism bright.
See you tomorrow, today
